The lines between internal and external communications are gone. That’s right, gone. Companies are scrambling to understand the new era of communications and how to capitalize on this shift. Cut the Cord is a multifaceted, colorful event designed to enlighten the corporate communicator – not only what is happening, but how to hedge against the onslaught of requests heading your way in the future. Two dynamic speakers, Jim Ylisela and Tim Clue, will help walk you through the communication hurdles you face today (content, distribution methods, budgets and much more) and prepare you for tomorrow. Register today!

About the Speakers:

Jim Ylisela is president of Duff Media Partners Inc., which provides communications consulting services to a variety of corporate, government and nonprofit organizations. Before that, he served as president of Ragan Consulting, the consulting division of Lawrence Ragan Communications Inc., and previously as Ragan’s publisher and editorial director. Jim has worked with thousands of communicators through his consulting work, custom training and Ragan conferences and workshops, including Advanced Writing & Editing, Advanced Internal Communications and the Internal Communications Master Class.

Jim began his professional life as a journalist, working for newspapers and magazines. He has won half a dozen awards for investigative journalism and continues to work as a freelance writer. He has also written and produced three documentaries for public television. Jim taught for 13 years in the graduate program at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where he also served as co-director of the Medill News Service, which provided real-time coverage to Chicago-area newspapers. As part of Write & Rewrite, Jim presents a quarterly webinar on a variety of communication topics. Jim and his Write & Rewrite partner, Steve Crescenzo, most recently taught Write & Rewrite’s newest workshop, “Writing Across Media,” in London and Chicago.

Tim Clue is a professional humorist, corporate entertainer and motivational speaker, Tim Clue’s work behind the lectern is out in front. Dynamic, inspirational, and with a razor sharp wit, Tim is smart without snark. Before he was a stand-up comedian, Tim was a teacher of communications and theater with an emphasis on speech and rhetoric. Now a published author and humorous business event speaker, Tim often says, “If you want them to listen, tell them. If you want them to remember, make them laugh.”

While Tim enjoys wielding his wit for his clients, he is also proud of his professional writing and directing accomplishments. Tim co-founded a production company to develop works for stage, film and TV. He has already written and directed two sitcom pilots, produced one, and his latest work “Leaving Iowa” was produced to rave reviews at actor Jeff Daniels’ Purple Rose Theatre Company in 2004, ran for over a year to more critical acclaim in Chicago, and, thanks to a publishing contract solidified in 2008, is in constant production with dozens of LORT, community and college theatre programs around the country.
