IABC/Chicago links organizational, business communicators to a global network of communication professionals that develop, establish and adhere to the highest professional standards of quality and innovation in organizational/business communication. We aim to be the association of choice for professionals in all communication disciplines to foster understanding and respect toward integrating communication activities in organizations/businesses.

Mission

  • To provide career-long learning opportunities that give IABC/Chicago members the knowledge and tools they need to facilitate strategic communication management in all communication disciplines.
  • To share among our membership best practices, ideas and experiences that facilitate the development of ethical, efficient and effective standards for our profession.
  • To lead the way in the ethical use of advanced information technology in the communication profession.
  • To link with the Chicago metropolitan community to foster the understanding of strategic communication management/activities in organizations.

Did You Know

IABC/Chicago is the Chicago metro area chapter of IABC. A member of IABC’s Pacific Plains Region, Chicago is one of the largest IABC chapters in the U.S. and the oldest chapter in the world. The Chicago Chapter was started in 1924 as the Industrial Editors Association of Chicago and later changed its name to the Chicago Association of Business Communicators before becoming IABC/Chicago in January of 1980.

Active Chapter
The Chicago chapter hosts on average 22 professional development and networking events between the months of September and June. Read more
Diverse Membership
Dozens of different communication areas are represented at all different levels within their careers.

Our members represent a number of sectors, including public relations, the corporate world, non-profits/associations, and government.

Joining IABC/Chicago can provide you with a great way to network, pick up new ideas and undertake professional development.
