SUMMARY:Who are the people in your neighborhood? A persona-based approach to employee engagement - Jan 25\, Noon Webinar REGISTRATION IS FULL!
DESCRIPTION:No matter the organization\, data and insights show our people are flooded with information. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach when we engage with our people. Using personae is about finding a way to communicate messages to a global audience that are designed with a specific someone in mind\, rather than a generic ‘everyone.’ \nJoin Carla Guest from IABC/Toronto for this interesting session on how Siemens Energy used this approach to research\, develop and implement persona-based employee communications. It will highlight internal ‘best practices’ of implementation in partnership with business stakeholders (Human Resources\, Chief Diversity Officer\, Chief Data and Analytics Officer). \nREGISTRATION IS FULL!

DESCRIPTION:Join IABC/Chicago for this Free Webinar! \nBeing able to articulate your thoughts and solutions clearly is a critical skill for anyone looking to make it in the business world. SUMMARY:Tues.\, Aug. 9\, 12:30 p.m. CT - Smart Brevity: How to make leader messages sharp\, clear and unmissable
DESCRIPTION:The premium on smart\, clear communication — especially at a leader level — has never been higher. Over 120 emails will hit a staff or stakeholder’s inbox today\, making it harder for them to find or stay focused on what really matters. \nLayer on shrinking attention spans and the compounding clutter that meetings\, messages and inefficient communication add\, and it gets tougher for any team to stay aligned\, engaged and productive. \nSmart Brevity® will help you break through. This modern communication style\, built on brain science\, is used inside 300+ organizations to capture and keep attention. \nJoin us with our sponsor\, @axios senior director of content\, @EmilyInverso\, on August 9\, 12:30pmCT\, for an IABC-exclusive look at techniques and strategies communicators can use to make any leader message a must-read. SUMMARY:Using Improv to Build Your Communication Culture! - September 21 Luncheon
DESCRIPTION:Using Improv to Build Your Communication Culture! \nWed.\, Sept 21\, 2022\, 11:30am – 1pm \nMaggiano’s Naperville \nRegister Today! Click Now \nJoin IABC/Chicago as we return to in-person luncheons! \n“Yes\, and” is perhaps one of the most practical and direct applications of improv in the workplace. It’s also commonly misunderstood. Many people think “yes\, and” means you have to agree with everything and there’s absolutely no room for conflict. Incorrect! “Yes\, and” is a powerful leadership tool because it allows for affirmation and collaboration: two major traits in today’s leaders. So how do we incorporate “yes\, and” into workplace culture and leadership communications? \nLearn to apply the principles – and not to mention the fun(!) – of improv comedy to help create stronger relationships\, foster more productive collaboration\, and unlock more powerful creativity for your team. \nThis will be an interactive event where you will learn how to build trust and confidence in yourself and others all while having fun and a good laugh! \nWhen: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.\, Wednesday\, September 21 \nWhere: Maggiano’s Little Italy\, 1847 Freedom Drive\, Naperville\, IL \nCost: $35 members/$45 non-members/$20 students with ID

SUMMARY:Business Writing Basics and Brush-Ups - May 19\, 2022\, 12-1pm
DESCRIPTION:Improve your writing! IABC Chicago has partnered with Jill O’Mahony Stewart\, adjunct faculty at DePaul University\, to bring you this business writing session. \nThis webinar looks at common pitfalls even otherwise-good writers produce.  Using a combination of exercises\, reminders\, and refreshers\, as well as some new tips and techniques\, Jill Stewart takes an organic look at what makes writing “good” and how everyone can sharpen their own writing game. From getting started – aka writer’s block – to exploring “what’s-in-it-for-me\,” and all-too-common errors\, webinar content will provide ways to make written products cleaner\, clearer\, more concise and ultimately more effective in achieving their intent. In addition\, she will provide resources to participants so they may continue to explore ways to enhance their writing skills and build on the webinar’s “lessons learned.” \nJill O’Mahony Stewart is a writing teacher and coach. From 1986-2008 she managed Stewart Communications\, a PR firm devoted to “issues that matter.” The StewComm team served clients on assignments ranging from improving end-of-life care and planning\, to affordable housing\, to fire-retardant building materials — all with the common theme of providing targeted audiences with important information that would enhance and influence their daily lives\, their well-being\, or their business decisions. \nRegister Now!
