How Employee Communicators Engage Employees

E-mail (83%) and intranet (75%) are reported as the most frequently used communication vehicles for engaging employees according to the 2010 IABC Research Foundation and Buck Consultants Employee Engagement survey. Social media tools have been gaining popularity with roughly 45 percent of respondents indicating that they currently communicate through Facebook, Twitter and instant messaging.

There were nearly 900 respondents to the Research Foundation/Buck Consultants’ second survey, with 71% of respondents at a director or manager level or above. Compared with last year’s results, a higher percentage of participants have established external and internal social media policies. The complete study is available by download to all IABC members at no charge from the Research Foundation web site.
