As we approach a new year, I like to reflect on our chapter success for the past few months. Specifically, we:
Focused on more hybrid programming to reach members across the Chicagoland metro area thanks to your feedback from last summer’s survey;- Continued to host the successful, informal Coffee Clubs to bring “hot topics” up for discussion among our communication network (our cyber coms session was great!);
- Hosted a “sold out” webinar in November with Stephen Krempl;
- Held a fun improv luncheon in Naperville and raised a glass to each other during our holiday party; and
- Increased membership 30% this year! Bringing more members together to build connections.
As we focus on 2023, we would like to do more of the same, but have some focus areas we’d like your help with:
- Build our student membership connections and reach out to undergrad and graduate students;
- Provide specialized events for young professionals, independents, or other special interest groups: and
- Continue to provide opportunities to connect both in person and online.
Operating our local chapter takes the time and patience of great chapter leaders who willingly give extra hours for this side gig, and for that, I am very grateful! We are fiscally sound, migrating to a new website platform, cleaning up our bylaws and process docs, and working behind the scene to keep this IABC chapter one of the best run in the Association!
I am proud to be leading our Chicago Chapter out of a pandemic as we come together for our own development and reconnections – be it in person, or online. I’d like to know more about what you are looking for, what you’ve found within IABC, and how else we can help as we plan our programs for the year.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to get more involved, have a programming or event idea, or have some specific coms needs for the new year! We are responsive and want to know how to help!
Wishing you all a warm and bright 2023!
Best,
Julie
