Arek first got involved with IA
BC Chicago back in 2018, intrigued by early talk of a certification program through the Global Communication Certification Council. Fast forward six years: after launching a new IABC study group with the support of Past-President Julie Bjorkman, Arek was one of two board members who recently achieved the new Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) certification, and he now serves as the board’s president-elect.
In his board service this year, Arek says he’s focused on learning what it takes to run an IABC chapter and working to continue raising the group’s profile in Chicago as the premier affinity group for Chicago comms professionals. He counts IABC’s amazing networking opportunities and community support among his favorite benefits (along with DePaul University discounts and robust professional development resources).
By day, Arek is director of internal communications at Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a philanthropic organization committed to transforming health. In his spare time, he enjoys studying neuroscience and neuroleadership topics. He’s currently working toward a Certificate in Foundations of NeuroLeadership (CFN), learning how to use brain science to enhance team performance, support personal growth, and facilitate positive change
